Strange Fruits

About a week ago, my dad brought some fruit home from a meeting they had at work, and none of us have (or had) any idea what they were (including my Dad). I’m wondering if anyone knows what these are?

Strange Fruit

You have to open them up to see the actual fruit, which looks something like a small cherry tomato (but it isn’t!).

So, do you know what these are?

That’s so weird! As a raw foodist, I used to eat lots of strange fruits, but I’ve never seen this one! It looks kinda like a baby persimmon…or even a green tomato – except it’s orange LOL.

I’ve seen them at work as a dessert garnish.Next time I’m in I’ll find out their name.

Hi Lisa! I found your blog somehow…surfing some blogs and I love it! These fruits are in my garden too. Before the fruit get ripe, the cocoons are like orange lampions, very beautiful! Most people overhere use these orange things for decoration, but the fruit is rarely eaten. As I live in the Netherlands, we do call them ; lampionnetjesplant. By the way; overhere we have them in our garden in oktober (we have autumn than).
    Have a nice day!
    greetings from mama lieveheersbeestje.
